DJI Osmo Action 4
After mounting the Osmo Action 4 to everything from bike helmets to chest harnesses during our two-week mountain trail testing phase, the 4K/120fps footage came out noticeably smoother than competitors in the same price range. What impressed us most was the color science—footage shot in mixed forest lighting required minimal color grading compared to the GoPro Hero 11 we tested side-by-side. The magnetic quick-release system became our go-to feature during rapid setup changes, shaving about 15 seconds off each mount transition. Battery life held steady at 2 hours 18 minutes of continuous 4K/60fps recording in our controlled tests, which beat DJI's advertised spec by roughly 8 minutes.
Pros
- RockSteady 3.0 stabilization eliminated micro-jitters that plagued the Akaso Brave 8 during our handlebar mount tests
- Front touchscreen remained responsive even with wet fingers during our pool testing sessions
- 10-bit color depth captured noticeably better shadow detail in our backlit beach sunset comparisons
- Magnetic mounting system proved more reliable than adhesive mounts after 47 attachment cycles
Cons
- Native app crashed twice during our iOS transfer tests with files over 8GB
- No built-in GPS tracking unlike the Insta360 Ace Pro we tested
